Our kids come up every-other Sunday for a little dinner and games. It's always fun and busy and noisy. I have some nets and bug catchers for the kids - they're always finding some strange bug or animal. They've caught some lizards and horny toads and the usual parade of insects. This Sunday they found a tarantula on the back deck. We put it in one of the bug catchers and later they let it go down the back hill. Monday I found another one in our garage. Needless to say I'm having the house sprayed today....

Holden graduated from the UVSC Police Academy this spring....YEAH! HOLDEN! We're very proud and excited for him - for obvious reasons. Jerry's happy about his career choice and they talk up a storm about their (mis)adventures. Holden got top honors for all around achievement. He was hired at South Jordan shortly before he graduated and loves it there. He's been involved with a robbery in progress and gone the extra mile to solve a couple of crimes which won him a commendation from his supervisor. And he looks great in his uniform!

QUILTING CULT

I got to host the fifth semi-organized-officially-fun Quilting Cult Retreat last weekend. We had 11 there Friday night, eight slept over - including me. I'm so excited I finally got the applique done on Breezy's baptism quilt (she was baptized in August). I hope to have it finished next week. Kellie got the prize for finishing a project first - again. That girl rocks! She finished two projects and started two others, that I know of. Carolyn got the prize for the first wound (it included bandaids) but she really should get the prize for the most helpful and best teacher. She helped Donnalee learn how to use her new machine and put the binding on her quilt. Jeana got most of her pink baby pinwheels done, Sharon and Carol just worked quietly. I'm sure they finished a bunch. Sandra must have trimmed five-hundred half-square triangles. Toni finished two great bags and started the cutest Buggy Barn witch quilt, and Audrey did some darling scrapbook pages (we're not real picky about who we run with, we just want to have fun). Oh, and we ate.....Hawiian Haystacks, Breakfast Casserole, Croisant Sandwiches, Brownies, Cake, Candy aaannnd Smart Cookies - "I could eat just one of them!"

The Big Scare

Yesterday we had a big scare from the Corner Canyon fire. I had a friend at work who ran in to tell me that it looked like the area around our house was on fire - and it was! Thankfully it was not too close. We were very concerned but never in serious danger. Cam and I watched the planes fly over the fire and put the retardant on it. I'm so thankful no one was hurt and no structures were burned.

These are my priorities -
Photos and memory books
Antiques
Quilts

I'm sure Jerry's would be different but I still have my photos off the wall and in a box.
When I went to bed at 11:00 PM, I could see a couple of hot spots burning. At 2:30 AM, it was all black. The news this morning said the fire is still burning, but it's way North and East of us now.

What the Heck

So I guess I'm pretty forgettable.... Only one comment posted about me. Oh, well. I'll have to work on that.

I'm back at work and the kids are getting ready for school. I love my job but I really love to have my time to do what I want (it's all about me, you know).

Last week Emily had a "Girls Night Out". We each made our own pizza. We had a cat, a butterfly, a couple of hearts, and so on. We made the cutest scrapbook page - thanks to Audrey's great talent. Then we had pedicures and manicures. Emily bought the girls some "bling" - fun sparkly necklaces and earrings.

It was four hours of sparkle, giggles and fun! I'll post pictures as soon as I get them!
